80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

It has always fascinated me that the human species thinks there must be some purpose to this life. Are we really that much better than the animals that there is a purpose to our being and not there's?
Perhaps living is the answer.
Perhaps it's just finding what it is that gives you purpose, fulfillment and meaning.
Perhaps it's something deep inside of us that causes us to know that we were created, therefore there must be a purpose.
After all what artist paints a beautiful painting only to hide it in a closet. Sitting in a closet it serves no purpose.

christian is correct... there isnt a meaning... in fact, why on earth would there be????? each person makes there own meaning, or maybe a group of people will agree on a meaning, but there is no actual absolute meaning outside of any particular humans mind.. think about it,, we created the concept of meaning.. the concept "meaning" didnt exist before life.

The same as all other species, to procreate and evolve over the generations. What other value we place on how we live that life is up to us, and therein lies the speed at which we as a species evolve.

Point to ponder while pondering the meaning of life - Did our ancester from whom our species split refuse to get out of the tree because it felt it was a pointless expedition at the time?

To live, reproduce, and die.

I can understand why the human race needs to know why they're here and it's one of those problems that will always play across our minds until the end of our time. Yet when it all comes down to it, it depends on whose lives you've affected and who you love and who loves you back. As well as hatred. Mankind will forever more ask why they're here but there is no concrete answer then the obvious.

The meaning of life is different for each person. My meaning is to serve God and love others. But your meaning might be quite different. That's the human quest, to find out what gives YOUR life meaning. When you find it, you'll know it.

basically your on this earth to be born, reproduce and die thus sustaining life on earth. other than that you give your own life purpose. an example, what is the meaning of life for an inmate sentenced to life in prison as opposed to to a married man with a wife and four kids who love him and a job he likes

The meaning of life is to be able to sit there and try and figure out the meaning of life... if u figured out the meaning of life then there would be no point in going on.... no point in anything.... why spoil the suspense unless u die, then u can figure out what the point of life was....
