I heard the two fears are the fear of falling, so be careful not to place him/her down too quickly, the other fear I heard was being alone. As for the loud noises, I'm not sure that is actually a fear for them. When I had my first baby I lived literally one house from the railroad track, and every 20 minutes a train came by and blew the whistle and it didn't phase him a bit. Oh, and that wasn't because he had been hearing that all nine months either, I didn't realize how often that train came by until after we moved in. We were moving in when I went into labor so we all got to experience it together!

There are two innate fears that every baby is born with; a fear of sudden loud noises and a fear of falling.

Not knowing who the hell this is about to have charge over their life! (parents)lol

Seriously, I would think it is a fear of faces or being alone. Baby's can not completely focus/see when 1st born, so seeing this huge image towering over you after leaving the womb has got to be scary.

Not feeling the warmth and coziness of the womb has got to be hard, so being held and cuddled is comforting. Being put down, is not all babies favorite thing when they are introduced to the crib at home. But, this is why swaddling the baby is so important.

Falling. One research project I read about was putting babies that were crawing or pulling themselves along on a "fake" floor that had a section of clear glass emulating the edge of a fall off point. None of the babies would go over the clear part.

Newborns need to be swaddled to feel secure. When you leave a newborn unwrapped they feel as though they are falling. They have been "squeezed" by the mother's uterus for 9 months and coming into our world is quite a shock. My kids would cry when I would unwrap them to change their diapers. I am sure the cooler room temperature didn't help much. It might also be bright light for obvious reasons.

at the start - i prefer to congratulate you on staying in school - super decision. i'm no longer an adolescent mom yet each and every working mom has to handle this. My son is in daycare from 9:30 to 4:30 each and every weekday. He knows i'm his mommy and has a brilliant smile each and every time i pass p.c.. him up. do no longer problem - you toddler would recognize that your his/her mommy. stable success!
