And do you know which one this line comes from: "You're a clever girl.....and I love you"?

Sleuth, and the one this line comes from, would be my favourites.

Actually, I am being totally unfair. I don't think anyone but me ever took any notice of this line - but it made me fall in love with him when I was 12. A clue: He said it to Shirley Maclaine.

There are so many.... I like 'The Ipcress File', 'Zulu', 'Sleuth' and 'Educating Rita'. My children like 'The Muppet Christmas Carol'. Does the quote come from 'Ipcress'? Not too sure - sounds like he is talking to an animal. Never liked 'Alfie' too much - not much joy in watching all that selfish/abusive behaviour and even though he was better at it than Jude Law I still think the character is fundamentally unsympathetic.

Like the previous answer, Zulu, with The Cider House Rules almost in a dead-heat.
The line, I don't know, but isn't a patch on the line from The Italian Job, "you were only meant to blow the bloody doors off".

Zulu is a classic, still watch it whenever it comes on telly, the Italian Job is what British cinema used to be all about, but one of my favourites that doesn't get mentioned much is his brilliant character in Little Voice, such a smarmy git in that film and Jane Horrocks and Brenda Blethyn are such great supporting cast. Check it out Donna.

As an actor I would say either 'The Italian Job' or 'Alfie' as I only associate Caine with these films.
As for a whole film(meaning plots, characters etc.)I would say his recent outing in 'The Prestige' which is a good film as a whole in my opinion.

i haven't considered adequate movies with him to truly understand, yet of what I actual have considered i might say Batman starts, by way of fact I continuously enjoyed the area the place he asked Bruce what the element of those bloody push united statesif he could no longer even carry a beam off himself. he's so humorous, love him as Alfred! Oh! and could't overlook Inception!!!!
