I support stem cell research.
I vehemently oppose Federal Funding (taxpayer) for stem cell research. There is no more important right on this planet than private property rights (my money). There will always be some worthy cause that politicians will use to spend "federal funds", and the slow erosion of private property rights for "worthy causes" will only make things worse.

There aren't many people opposed to placental or adult stem cell research. However, the cells in these cases are differentiated, so are more difficult to work with. Embryonic stem cells are undifferentiated, making them far more useful in research.
Embryonic stem cell research uses embryonic cells that are otherwise going to be disguarded by fertility clinics. In most cases, women have more eggs fertilized at a clinic than they can use. The left-over fertilized eggs are frozen, and the women have the option of keeping them for future use, or having them destroyed.
Stem cell research would use these small clumps of cells to perform research, in the process breaking up the clumps of cells and making it impossible to implant them. Since they would have simply been discarded as biological waste anyway, you might wonder why this is a problem.
The problem is that for far right religious groups, the contention is that this is already a life, and that to destroy it is murder. They don't consider (or don't address) the issue that these cells could NEVER become a human being because the women that own the cells don't want them implanted.
Their argument is - all life is sacred; the embryonic clump of cells has the potential to grow into a human; therefore the research is not ethical.

i'm keen about it! My reason, i'm a form a million diabetic, open-minded, attentive to the importance stem cellular study has on western drugs and attended a funeral this week for a outstanding lady who lost her wrestle with maximum cancers. I comprehend the moral objection yet think about what Bush and all different objectors would vote in the journey that that they had an extremely close loved one with terminal maximum cancers or yet another ailment which will be cured with stem cellular transplantation. I also see that pharmaceutical organizations have a large pull with the authorities and that scares me. i could stay a classic life without 4-5 injections an afternoon and the opportunity of severe issues if this study is allowed. My husbands boss does not have lost his wonderful spouse very last Sunday morning who fought a problematic wrestle at maximum cancers if this study would were handed back even as it first got here to mild that it can treatment maximum cancers. Fetus' and embryo's are aborted on a daily basis through females who could finally end up with those ailments that kill and we enable that; what's the version if the embryo is in a petri-dish or human body?

Does the END Justify the MEANS ?
Some ppl believe that LIFE starts with conception.
This is a difficult premise.
Fact 1: HUMAN being is created at conception
Fact: 2: Destroying a fertilized egg destroys a HUMAN being if allowed to develop properly
Fact 3: Spectator medical accomplishment can be achieved
The only question exists DOES the needs of the many OUT WEIGH the needs of the FEW.

Everyone supports valid stem cell research, And that is adult and embyoric cord ( which are the only ones to even show any promice)
And others don't object fully to embyoric, only the use of federal tax money for it. some because it shows almost no promice others because it kills life.

Watch out. YOU ARE STARTING OUT WITH A FALSE PREMISE.
Everyone supports Stem Cell Research. EVERYONE.
But many don't support the taxpayers paying for Baby Farms.
That's where you create Babies and then butcher them.
You can do it with private money okay. We just don't want Baby Farms with Taxpayer Money.
SO FAR YOUR RESEARCH REALLY SUCKS. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING.
You must be high school and not college.

I am only against funding with Tax-payer money, if private enterprise can show some benefit for the diseases they are trying to control then i would support an exploratory commission to study the effect on the illnesses they are trying to cure. If there is enough data available to support further research then i would support Govt funding on a limited basis.
