It's a complicated profession, with a lot of dedicated people, plus too many members who abuse their position and violate their ethics.

It's a shame that soo many attorneys fail to live up to the ethical standards that are still oficially part of what was once an honorable profession. It just makes it that much harder for the rest of us.

Too many of them in america. One in 200 adults in America is an attorney. Compare that to one in 20,000 in Japan. I think this speaks numbers about the law(culture) in America.

I think people love to hate them.

Until they need them.

JVolfan: I am sure the public defender will do a good job in court. Sometimes when family members want to talk to me, I am lacking information at the time, and I have to ask them for info. It has no bearing whatsoever on my ability to represent someone adequately in court. We are not computers.

90% of lawyers = worthless scum

10% of lawyers = indispensable resource

There is an old saying. Never skimp on your doctor, lawyer or accountant. You'll end up broke, in jail and dead.

Depends on what kind of person he or she is and in what area of the law they practice. Most charge by the hour and are extremely time conscious. Remember, the law is not necessarily based on what is fair, moral or honest.

They're one notch above the bottom my list---that would be politicians and car salesmen.

public defenders should be called public pretenders. my son had a public defender she didn't have a clue about what was going on with my son. she asked me what and where my son was i told her he was in jail, she asked what for and i told her .......failure to appear.
and not completing his jail time. its hard not to complete your jail time when your in jail. nothing has been done. i guess you get what you pay for. if your poor your **** out of luck.
