1) Abd-ar-Rahman I, a member of the family, to become the independent ruler of Spain. In 756 Abd-ar-Rahman founded the powerful and independent emirate, which later developed into the caliphate of Córdoba.

2) Musa-ibn-Nusair who in 711 AD commanded his leading Moorish general, Tarik ibn Zeyad to assemble an army of seven thousand men and ordered them to conquer Spain in the name of Islam.

3) Tarik ibn Zeyad, who carried out his orders and after whom the Rock of Gibraltar is named.
