I HATE CHRISTMAS! Understand, I do not hate the idea of christmas, its a beautful holiday, just the holiday is from Dec 25 for January something. People celebrate it from Novemeber to July..Its annoying. Why don't ppl recognice hanukah. Yes only like 10% of ppl celebrate it, but still... I mean c'mon.. Do you think we celebrate christmas too early and continue too late and do u think we do not give enough recognition to other holidays?

You've got it all wrong. Christmas is only December 25. It is consumerism that "celebrates" Christmas from right after Halloween until the New Year. How else do you encourage spending if you don't consistently and strongly commercialize the concept of gift-giving during the holidays? I agree with you, it isn't necessary to hammer the idea of Christmas in the stores or in the media, soon after you've received your trick-or-treat loot but that is the way of the world we live in. We have gotten away from the true meaning of the celebration.

Hanukkah is recognized, not just in the very commercial way that Christmas is. For that matter, don't forget Kwaanza for those who choose to celebrate that holiday or the Winter Solstice for the Wiccan community.

I hate how people brush past Thanksgiving as if it isn't a BIG part of our American history. I hate that as soon as Halloween is over, the Christmas lights go up. I mean, I love the Christmas season and all, it's my favorite time of year, but I think that people totally forget what the time represents. People are so damn rude this time of year, with the shopping, and kids are so spoiled and bratty and greedy. And it's sad that they aren't taught what the real meaning of Christmas is. It's turned into a season of "what can I get", rather than "what can I give". And the whole thing with idiots suing and pitching fits cuz someone said "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" and cuz someone put a manger scene in their front yard and it hurt their wittle feewings. GROW UP, PEOPLE!! It just makes me so sick. And personally, I think Christmas should be the the biggest holiday because of what is celebrated - the Birth of Jesus. It's just that people forget that and you see more Santa Claus than anything else. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Santa, but I think we are cheating our kids by leading them to believe that Christmas is all about Santa and getting presents.

omg- waaaaaaay too early. Pretty annoying. My mom always put up tree day after Thanksgiving & took it down Jan 1. Now you dont even get to enjoy HALLOWEEN much less Thanksgiving. I cant stand christmas music anymore (I work in a restaurant) it's like nails on a chalkboard. The last time I put up a tree was 10 years ago- a beautiful live one & the NEXT MORNING my 23 cats had KNOCKED IT DOWN & strewn sh*t everywhere. So except for the fact that I'm making buttloads of $$$$ right now, I cant stand the holidays. Oh,m yeah, causa all the xmas parties I wait on, my daughter & I always celebrate about the end of Jan..early Feb. She loves it- everythings on sale! Bahumbug 2 u 2!!!

Yes we do. It lasts waaaaaaay tooooooo long!

And it is usually for all of the wrong reasons: new clothes, toys, and stuff. And seeing who can outspend each other into such a debt they need to re-mortgage their home, take out a juice loan (via Check Into Cash, Title Loans, etc).

It is all about Jesus Christ: the child born of meager beginnigs that grew and walked amongst the people only to die a horrific death for the sins of man. Sins he himself never committed.

It's about "Peace on Earth" and goodwill toward men (women and children), and showing GENUINE love to all, not just "me and my four and nothing more!"

If you must celebrate...do it for the right reason.

As for you saying you hate it...as it's said on the streets...domn't hate the player (holiday) hate the game (people who mis-celebrate it).

Try to have a blessed and happy holiday season, and a super Merry Christmas!

Well, I don't celebrate Christmas too long, but I agree. We should give a bit more attention to other holidays and keep the celebrations to their right time.

I love the christmas season and the many ways and traditions of all cultures and religions for how they wish to celebrate it. I don't think the time period is long enough. I think the world need to spend far more time in the mind set of peace and goodwill to all.

Agree about the length. I love the planning, but nothing happens in our house until the first of Advent, then it's finished as soon as possible in January.

Easter starts with lent, and finishes Monday evening.

I agree I also like Christmas because of the real meaning but the whole thing is just way too much. I always dread this time of year. It is just overkill!
