The republicans used their power to investigate every suspicion of Clinton's no matter how insignficant. The Bush admin. is arguably the most criminal administration in US history, and has had a free
ride with their partners in congress. And the dems are saying: "Oh, we'll be nice guys and let you get away with 6 years of massive corruption."

There will be investigations. They will start at the bottom and work up. If the public wants it to go all the way to the source, we will have to loudly support it, for otherwise it would be political suicide for the dems to do it. Remember, it was only a few weeks ago that if you disagreed with the President, you were for the terrorists and a traitor.

Actually that is a very good point, but I think they should hold off until after the Presidential election. I was all for just letting it go and moving past it and then you bring this up. If the Republicans hadnt been so hard pressed to bring Clinton down we might not have the terrorism problem we have now. Thank you for reminding me that they are criminals and should be investigated, I got wimpy for a minute in my thinking. THank you for setting me straight.

I think this "Let's play nice" stuff is just temporary, only gonna last till the Dems take power. Once that happens, I'm 100% confident there WILL be investigations and hearings . . . and HOPEFULLY, criminal charges eventually. Some of the chairmen of various committes (each with subpoena power to do pretty much whatever they want) will be: Jack Murtha, Henry Waxman, Russ Feingold, and John Conyers. Each and every one of them have called for Bush's impeachment and/or referred to him as a "criminal" or having "committed crimes". So never fear . . . come January we WILL get to watch the sparks fly. BTW, I'm buying stock in C-SPAN . . . up till now it's been a relatively small network, but starting in January I believe its ratings will blow everyone else out of the water.

I'm a little confused about this. Perhaps I missed something, and if I did then duh on me. But, the Democrats are disagreeing right now as to how far to take the ethics changes in Congress, esp. regarding lobbying. I'm not recalling the Democrats saying there will no investigations into the war on Iraq or into misuse of power by the Bush Administration. I know they aren't considering impeachment, which I think is wise, unfortunate but wise.

I think they have a responsibility to investigate. It isn't about payback for the waste of time and money spent trying to take down Clinton. It is about responsibility.

If they don't, they are telling America and the world that they are condoning what Bush did. That is not good for this country in the here and now and for the future.

Yes,I think they're wimpy.
I agree it's possibly best for strategical reasons but that shouldn't be the first concern.
They shouldn't go after Bush like a pack of madmen like the right wing did to Clinton but they should also not give him a free pass in advance for every possible crime he committed.
Doing the right thing, whatever that is,should come before trying to be popular to any politician who's worth voting for.
I'm very sceptically that this will be the case but it should be

No. They're actually showing some strength of character. The Republicans showed that launching a vindictive and relentless attack on the President does not look strong ... it looks petty, pathetic, and weak.

The job of the opposition party is not to launch attack after attack on the President to see if they can "get 'im". The Republicans paid for trying to take down Clinton. Clinton made them eat it, and voters didn't like it. Rather than make the Republicans look strong, it made them look petty.

Who said that there won't be any investigations? The only thing Pelosi has said was off the table was impeachment. Everything else from no bid contracts to Cheney's energy commission to the Downing Street memo to the intelligence debacle on and on and on is all fair game.
