Best answer to your question is this poem I read in a book years ago.:
**********THE BRITTLE PEOPLE*************
This is the well of cyanide -
This is the spring from which lost ones drink -
And seek to quench a thirst & think that their search is ended -
That they have found themselves.
And yet the nectar turns to acid in the foul mouth.
The dew evaporates on the blossom -
And it withers on the stem.
The violet becomes a hothouse plant -
A thing which lives in pottery -
And, losing its forest shyness -
it assumes a city glitter.
this is the well - this is the limbo of liquid -
And that liquid is tears -
And that well is dug in the chasm of shattered lives.
Of love we sing - and we think of our first love.
How we remember those eyes -
Whose depth seemed bottomless and clear as a calm lake.
We feel again the trembling -
the clinging of those lips which we were afraid to kiss -
And the thrill -
And we search endlessly for the thrill of our first love.
And now we are hard - and bright - and brittle -
ours is the shiny surface -
The gay and tinkling laughter -
The casual handshakes -
And the tears which come after.
The years flow swiftly
We are the ones who chatter -
We have buried our youthful dreams.
For some of us that well has dried -
And only the saline crystals remain.
But this we forget -
Till some deft stab re-opens an old wound -
And we feel again the salty sting.
Yes - we are the gay ones
So clever - and bright - and BRITTLE !!

I would love to be in love and happily married. I really think by then I should be mature enough to have found someone and not totally f-ed it up. I don't know what sort of person though (well, except that I'm pretty sure he'll be male, I think that goes without saying, unless something DRASTICALLY changes in that time!) - I find it hard to imagine a person I could spend my life with, other than people I've already been in love with in the past. I don't know if I'm looking for someone similar to what I've had before, or if I could be surprised by someone different.
But I really don't want to still be single by then. If I am, I'm sure I'll survive it, as long as I've had some love in between, but I would prefer to find my 'one and only'.

I absolutly want to be with the man I am currently with (we're not gay, just had to answer) Been together 6 years & about a year ago i realized I would love to grow old with this man. I'm 40, hes 43. Hes the best guy ever. My biggest complaints about him are- he drives like an idiot (as in hes thoughtless, not reckless) and he talks with his mouth full. Thats it. BUT on the flipside- I've NEVER cleaned a floor or the toilet since I've been with him. He also makes the trips to the laundry room & cleans up after dinner. Sorry- you asked where I'd be & yougot an ad!

Sadly I see myself frightingly old. Probably the guy in the nursing home who is constantly grabbing the *** of the male orderlies, rubbing the male nurses while they take my blood pressure and insisting to my doctor that I still need anal prostate examinations. But when I am sitting in the sunroom smiling for what appears to be no good reason, I will be thinking of lovely evenings long ago, that I sat with my best friend, talking about boys, drinking good cognac and being glad I was alive to have experienced such fun.

retired as a Master Sgt or (hopefully) higher. I'm currently married. (22 and he's 24) and by then I'd hope we're still together. And although I dont want kids now or like them, we should have 1 or 2 by then.
What are your dreams or thoughts about ur life in 20 years?
this question is so much easier than shorter time questions. Like, if someone were to ask me where Id be in 5 years, I'd have no Ideas! My 6 year enlistment would be up, and who knows, maybe my years would have sucked too much to stay in I really wouldnt know what I'd be doing. If I stayed in I dont know if I'd have cross-trained by then or not. Maybe I'd have my degree by then too.
