When i was born it was at home by a midwife the next day her home was burn down with all the birth records before she turn them over to court house all i know is what my mon told me but i want to know for my self. Can any one help me. carolina girl

You have to have some form of birth cert. reg. with the state you were born in, if you diddnt you would never be able to enter school, get a social security card etc. Contact the dept of vital statistics for the state you were born in, that is who would have it

You should contact the court house in the county you were born in. They will be able to tell you what to do, if anything. You can fill out a form and they will send you copies of anything they do have. There is usually a fee for finding the files, and then another for printing and certifying them.

Yes they have to be certified or they are of no legal use other than show.

Sorry,, you were then "off the grid". That is a real California thing! The only way I can think of is to contact friends of your parents and have them sign an affidavit to the day you were born.
