Yes you can, they are sold in pet stores and there is a lot of information out on the web on them. The basics are...

1) a secure cage that allows for ventilation. Glass terrarium with a screen top at lest.

2) Radiant heater. You can use either a heat lamp or a ceramic socket heater. Both are available in your pet store or order from an online retailer like zoo med. The heat should be concentrated on one side of the cage, leaving the other cooler. This allows the lizard to thermo-regulate.

3) Full spectrum UV lighting on a timer. Necessary for digestion and metabolizing calcium.

4) Climbing branches and places to hide. I like to use live plants. Ficus do quite well as anole trees.

Care
1) Feed once a week, 2 week old crickets sprinkled with repti-vite vitamins. Being that you live in their native habitat, you can also catch any bugs you find and throw them in the tank as well to provide extra dietary variety.

2) A water dish is necessary but it is even more important to mist the cage down regularly. Purchase a spray bottle that is used ONLY for the lizard. Do not use a spray bottle that has been used for anything else as the trace chemicals could harm your pet.

That's the basics. Good luck and enjoy!

The most common green lizards are iguana's, green anoles, cameleons, or the chinese water dragon. I have a green anole and they are very easy to take care of, However, they don't do mush and don't really like being handled. Other pets that are interactive are muh more enjoyable. I have also had a leopard gecko and really liked him. He would let you hold him and would ride around in your shirt pocket.

If you're going to get one, I reccomend buying one from a pet store because it'll be a lot friendlier. If you search on google or yahoo, green anole "care sheet" you'll get tonnes of info about them. Keep in mind not all reptiles are simple, they take special liting, bedding and heats. You must provide everythingthey need in order to keep it alive.

Yes you can, you can keep them in anything as long as they have something to climb on and hide in/under, and they will eat any insects, prferably crickets. they should also be misted everyday, preferably in the morning and not to much.
