Falklands...Argentina laid claim as they were close to the Argentine mainland. They also were of no significant value and weren't anything special, but I suppose the English wanted to show the world they weren't to be messed with. They also showed the world the effetiveness of the Harrier jump jet also in this conflict(as it had its doubters)...from what I can remember the Argentine armed forces were embarrassed as they weren't ready for war, but they spoke tuff...once their flag ship General Belgrano(?!) weas sunk it was all over for them...also an English prince was on one of the British warships to show how tuff he was...of course he never went to the fron line or when hostilities broke out...lol hardly anyone lives on the island...over a thousand people.
