I GOT YOUR BACK, BRO!
The peopel who founded this country spoke English, so why can't those who come here from other countries learn to speak OUR language? They sure don't bend over backwards to accommodate us when we visit their countries. Or even if we move there, we have to learn THEIR language if we intend to survive.
They have TESL classes in our schools (Taking English as a Second Language)...IT SHOULD BE THE FIRST, LAST AND ONLY LANGUAGE...IF you are an American!!!!!!!

Have you ever been to another country? Even in places where there is an official language other than English, they print everything in English and that language because Americans refuse to be bilingual. Heck, in France, the street signs are in two languages! Americans are so goddamn arrogant, thinking everyone should immediately become fluent in English even if they are just visiting us...but, when we go to another country, we get VERY upset if not everyone speaks English!
I agree that when people learn to a new country, they should learn the most common language there. But learning a language takes time! I just finished Spanish 4, and I still struggle in having conversations with my Spanish-only friends. At least I'm trying, though, and the fact that there are people willing to try to speak to them definitely gives them more motivation to learn English so they can do the same for us.
We are supposed to be the melting pot of the world. Claiming that it's our way or the highway is completely against that.

Actually, I agree with you. Not about losing the country to Mexicans. That's a moronic statement and you being racist. But the rest of it is correct - we spend a ton of money and effort trying to accommodate people of all different languages. English SHOULD be an official language, just like all other countries have an official language. If you want to enjoy the benefits of America, you have to learn to speak English, and do not expect the taxpayer to compensate for your lack of understanding.
Having a national language would make sense economically and from a national unity. Every argument against a national language has been contrived or a red herring.

Thank you for asking this question. I am not a racist, but I believe if you live in another country and make money working there, you need to know the language. I went to Burger King the other day and they screwed up my order SO bad because the guy taking it didnt speak English. I've been on vacation in foreign lands and found it very disturbing when I counldnt order something to eat...not their fault, but mine because I didnt speak French. One thing if on vaca...but u live hear learn my damn language!!!!!!

Australia was having this same problem and they finally told anyone who didn't WANT to do things the "Austrailian" way, was invited to leave.
I agree with you. Every country is unique, and its language is one of the things that make it that way. We don't want to become Mexico or Japan or France or any other country. If people from other countries choose to live here, speaking English is part of living here.

As an outsider, I think you may find that English IS the official language of your country. Well, the garbled mess you have managed to make of it, anyway.
Actually, it was very nearly German.

In a sense, I agree.... we spend huge amounts of money for interpreters even at the welfare office, to give them OUR money... But it isn't just mexicans, ok? It's asians and others too. But heck, even some "english" speaking americans are hard for me to understand..... ebonics for sure.

You mean the official language of the world??
English is the official language of the U.S.
What's wrong with helping those that cannot speak/read english as well as me and you?
Don't be angry because people want to come here because of the opportunities this country provides.
