It depends on what you want to believe. I believe that there was a flood. It rained so much that the whole earth became flooded and the dinosaurs became extinct. Other people believe something else which has to do with a meteorite destroying the dinosaurs. (I personally think that it's impossible but whatever.)

A meteor or comet hit earth (suspected to have impacted the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico) which caused dramatic climatic changes.
The dust kicked up by the impact covered the skies for years which 1)blocked out sunlight, killing plants & 2)the lack of plants starved/killed off the herbivorous dinosaurs which in turn 3)starved/killed off the carnivorous dinsaurs.

Evidence from 65m years ago suggest that an asteroid or meteor hit the earth above the Yucaton Penninsula. Enough dust particles were thrown into the air to block the sun for a number of years, causing most plant and animal life to die.

they became extinct by...well scientists argue about how they died. some scientists said that a meteor landed on earth. others say there was a volcano eruption that changed the earth's climate. the dinosaurs were not used to the new climate so they died. i think it was the eruption that made the dinosaurs extinct.
