If XOXO means hugs and kisses than which is the hug, X or O, and which is the kiss?

I would just go by the order = it is always XO (never OXOX)
AND it is is always "hugs and kisses" not kisses and hugs,
SO X=hugs and O=kisses

I I think that kitty654 got it wrong...... O looks like a round the body hug...... X looks like crossed lips as in kissing. So........... X = kisses, and O = hugs...... ALways been that way for me, anyhow

I've been around a LONG time and know the answer to this one for sure!!
X's are kisses
O's are hugs
It doesn't have anything to do with how they look, it's just the tradition that's been around for at least 50 years.
