I've been wanting to see the film V for Vendetta since it went into theaters but one thing has always made me hesitate: the violence of the film. I know that it has an R rating, however, I've been told by many people who can handle gore much better than I can that it isn't nearly as bloody as the rating suggests. I normally trust these people with such matters, but I'd just like to get a few more opinions on it.

If it helps to show how good I am with gore, I can't watch any operation part of a medical show (and I'm a serious House-head) without feeling light headed and I thought I was going to throw up when I saw the scene in Hook where Rufio is killed. But I'll add that I'm also pretty good at knowing when to turn away and when to look back, so if it's at least slightly hinted at a split-second before, I can handle it.

It's much like the level of violence in "Matrix".

I think the "R" rating is for the mass burial sequences and the language.

There are lots of bloody faces and a torture sequence or two, but I have seen far worse

Violence doesn't always equal Gore. When it's done in the way it was in V for Vendetta (which I think is an absolutely fantastic movie) the violence stands for more the fight scenes than any real gorey moments. Really I don't think anything was too gorey. I there were fight scenes but not anything too horrific or tortorous. I stay away from movies like Saw and Hostel where the violence has no meaning to it, it's senseless .. and I was absolutely disgusted w/ Hannibal for the same reason, all the gore was sense-less. V for Vendetta is NOTHING like that .. I think the R rating probably was more about the ideas the movie celebrates than the actual violence .. wink wink .. I wish you luck!

V For Vendetta is one of my favorite movies. That being said, it does get a bit bloody at the end of the movie.

Remember Remember the 5th of November.
The gunpowder, treason, and plot.
I know of no reason why the 5th of November should ever be forgot.

I thought the movie was excellent. Definitely see it.
There are no gratuitously violent sequences. The part that bothered me a little was the head shaving sequence... but no blood there, just a haircut.

It's an excellent movie inspired by an even greater comic by Alan Moore!
