Definitely!
I saw it last night and loved every action packed minute. Great, great film.

The term used today is "reboot". Like "Batman Begins" has NOTHING to do with the 4 films made before it. With Bond, the films basically REBOOT the franchise each time a new actor takes over the role. In other words, most of what happened before is ignored (with some exceptions). Casino Royale was different in that it really was the first PREQUEL story - Bond early in his career. Quantum of Solace is also unique as it the very first SEQUEL - carrying on the story begun in Casino Royale. Much like Star Trek: Wrath of Kahn and Star Trek: The Search for Spock. Funny Bond story. In "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" the "new Bond" (George Lazenby) has a woman literally run away from him on a beach. He turns to THE CAMERA and says "that never happened to the other fellow" (Sean Connery, the first movie Bond). First time a character in a Bond film spoke to/acknowledged the audience.

Quite possibly, yes!
I never thought Sean Connery would be bettered, and I groaned when I heard that Daniel Craig had been given the role (I still think that Dougray Scott would make a fab Bond), however I've just been to see it tonight and both him and the film were quite simply fantastic.
I'm so glad they've dumped the smarmy one-liners, the sexist attitude, the gadget for every purpose, special effects and stunts coming out of your ears type of Bond movie. This was back to basics, real acting and gritty stuff. You actually saw blood.
The high rise opening sequence was superb and actually induced feelings of vertigo on my part, it was so well shot.
I'd given up on Bond movies, prefering the 60's ones, hating everything since Sean, however this new movie is sheer class, a definite must-see. In fact I think I'll have to go and see it again!!!

No, I thought that the screenplay lacked pace - there were too many heavy pauses, I thought it was a Pinter play at one point when Bond and Vesper were having a conversation. Craig was just about ok - but the romantic scenes were the worst I have ever seen. Hardly credible and overly ponderous. The script had a hard time as did the actors trying to keep up with the director's efforts to make us take all this rubbish about Bond falling in love seriously. Just looking soulfully into each others' eyes and into the camera occasionally didn't convince me. Judy Dench doing her best with poor script also - didn't seem to be the woman she was in 'Die Another Day'. Special effects not bad - particularly the house in Venice falling into the canal, but not good enough to make up for a film with a lot of ideas that didn't join up smoothly enough for my liking.

It's getting towards being one of the better ones. I like the way that Bond is a real person in this film, where in recent films he's been trending towards being almost superhuman - that's much more like the Bond that Fleming wrote about.

I haven't seen 'Casino Royale' yet, so my best to date is 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' starring George Lazonby as Bond. This was surely the best Acted Bond ever?

Definitely. I really didn't care for Bond movies in the past - cliche ridden, sexist, implausible to the point of killing the drama.
But the new one is genuinely thrilling. And Daniel Craig is the best Bond, or at least he's right up there with Connery.

After Sean Connery, all the Bonds have spent too long in the makeup trailer. Now we're getting back to basics.
I thought George Lazenby was quite good though.
