It's the current ideal. Even as short as 20 years ago, women as skinny as the current models are would not have had strong careers.

I think plus size models are FAR prettier.

because society has fallen far from the ancient times and now anyone larger than a size -1 is considered fat and hideous. :)
I did read an article and the Houstone Chronicle, though, and it said they're banning too-skinny models in Milan.
Mabye this could be the start of REGULAR SIZED MODLELS.
However, in New York and Paris, they still need human clotheshangers.

well in my opinion i think some models have to be skinny because well when designers make their clothes, they would like thin beautiful women to wear it. I really dont know why they choose to have thin skinny women but i think its kind of stupid. Well i hope i answered your question. Good luck

It's because fashion designers are trying to sell clothes. Clothes usually look best on clothes hangers so the designers want girls that are thin as possible. Models are nothing more that living clothes hangers.

Thy make them stay thin , they weigh them everyday and if you have gained on a diet you will go.
