We had a little lizard in out washing machine one night, the little bugger hid underneath the middle thing. I put it on spin cycle so he would stick to the sides. We finally got him out and he lived. In a car may be tougher, lizards like to sit on the windows, maybe leave your window open a crack for a while and see if he climbs out on his own.

A humane trap (http://www.pestcontrolshop.co.uk/acatalog/Live_Capture_Mouse_Trap-1.html) may be the answer but you will have a problem with what bait to use - most lizards will only go for live food which would run straight out the trap. Any idea what kind of lizard it is?
I had a 5 foot pine snake escape in the car, it crawled over my dad's feet when he was driving one day after it had been in there 4 weeks... He drove home ~2 miles holding the snake by the neck....

This is pretty simple. You cannot get a small lizard outa your car if it does not want to come out of your car, especially if it gets into the steering colum. a decent way to get them down and outa there, is to take a small box and i mean a small one, about 3 times the size of the lizard and more long than it is deep, in your car, water is going to be a issue as they will not have alot of access to it, so bare with me this is what we are going to do. You are going to take the bottle cap off of a 1 liter wide mouth pepsi or other such item, and fold the top of the box so that its closed on 3 sides, you will then place the bottle cap full of water in the cage, and point the open end of the box twords the dash, laying it on the floor with the opening closest to the floor. it will provide a dark, humid place with water, something he is probley in great need of at this point. He will go for it, at what time you will just simply (in the morning...this is a over night thing...) grab the box in a rapid fashion and slap your hand over the opening. and BAM you might or might not have your lizard
i have used this in the past to capture escaped house geckos in funny places! it works great....sometimes...the car is the perfect place for this to work!

let me guess.. you live in Florida? they always get the wierd critters down there! lol
since lizards and snake like warm places.. I might try blasting the AC, see if you can get the thing to climb out and sit on the dash or something to warm up... at least then you can see it well enough to identify it. Or you could try leaving the car doors open and hope he just finds his way out.
call local animal control, see if they handle this type of call.

Dear Madame,
Become one with the lizard. Do as it does. Sit on log and convince me to buy car insurance. Eat bugs. Then, when the little fellow has befriended you, catch him and release him into the wild.
Just a suggestion.

Start the wiper by sprinkling water on the screen both front and rear.Leave the one door half open so that it makes easy to catch it.Due to water sound and wiper sound he/she feels it's raining outside and will come out for his/her food.
