I do believe that when they took prayer out of the schools they let the devil in. Like you said the Bible teaches you whats right and whats wrong, but this country is so far gone, on what is politically correct that they don't even see whats going on .I think you posted a very good question

There's this thin called seperation of religion and state.
Plus, not everyone WANTS to read the bible. I'm sure it has good teachings, but it's still religion.
Do you want all religious schools teaching in depth the theory of evolution and the big bang theory? It's just science.
the fact that teen pregnancy is going up and the bible was taken out of school are not related at all. We just need better sex ed. and teach kids about planned parenthood and making birth control more available. not the bible.
Kids can be taught good morals without the bible. Same with anyone in any family. good morals dont only come the bible. You can learn them anywhere. THAT is what needs to be stressed in school, not religion.

There really is no problem with morals... it is just that this country has outgrown a certain wilful tendency to overlook its own stated beliefs .... after all The Constitution of the United States specifies
that we are granted, among other things, freedom of religion...
so, to be fair we must not limit any religious studies in the public
schools to Christianity alone. That would be like segregation: unfair, unconstitutional, un-American ... and so we should, if
we are to introduce religion as part of school activites, make sure
the other major religions of the world are properly represented ..
It seems to me that what makes people reluctant to allow Christianity in the door, so to speak is that people do not want
to be told what to do, how to think and believe all over again. After all, "we" ran away from it once in the past ....

if you put the bible in school parents are going to offended and take children out of school and start homeschooling. then peoples tax dollars goes into nothing.. then children will be stuck at home by themselves, not know whats out there. yes they will be safe but won't know how deal with race, money, and social. then how can they perpare themsleves when they grow up.
its just wrong and also parents can sue the state for being against different races and cultures

As a civil code for an ordered society, it is not too bad. When it starts flying in the face of science, or brainwashing children in to believing in hell and saying you have to bow down to an invisible sky fairy, then it has no place in educatiuon.
The stoning people to death might get a funny look, as well.

Because it is just WRONG.
You can't force religion on a child, the morals are good, but it's not right when so many people believe so many different things...

Because morals suck sh*t. Duh. You cannot teach religion in public schools, you numbnut. It's against the law... church and state are separate and should remain that way.
Besides, if you teach that mind-warping crap, all you'll have is a bunch of hypocritical HATERS who dream in fairy tale land. Yay... bring on a book that causes so much destruction, war, slaughter, ignorance, bigotry, and intolerance in the world... THAT'S going to be good reading. *rolls eyes*

If they tried to put the Bible in schools here I would be rallying against it.
If my child wants to learn all that she can go to Church, thats why they have churches.... it will be my child's choice to learn not the education departments.

Well, first off, the Bible is hardly banned in schools. Teachers and faculty can't make children to recite prayers, nor lead prayers, as not every child that attends a public school is Christian, nor should they have to be. To respect diversity, the practice of having kids recite a prayer each day before starting class was ruled unconstitutional.
Kids are free to read the Bible, pray, whatever. They can hold their faith because the government and thusly a public school, cannot tell them otherwise. Both students and the school must respect the beliefs or nonbeliefs of others.
As far as the Bible teaching nothing but good morals, I have to strongly disagree. I have read the Bible, this summer in fact, and will probably read it again sometime to refresh my memory. Yes, there are good things in there like teaching not to steal, to lie and kill, teaching to be loving and respectful to one another. But those are NOT, I repeat, NOT unique to the Bible. Such behaviors are universal and have even developed in isolated tribes in the Amazon where they've never once heard of God, Christ, or the Bible.
Secondly, there are a LOT of bad things in the Bible that, well, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to teach my kids. Let's see, animal sacrifice is quite prominent in the Old Testament. According to those books, men were supposed to sacrifice goats and turtledoves daily or more as sin offerings. Only the tribe of Aaron was allowed in the tabernacle. Unless we can prove an existing bloodline, there's a lot of priests and ministers out there going to Hell on that basis.
Also, there was a fair amount of conquest and war in the Old Testament. The Israelites themselves, God's chosen people, when they went out of Egypt, just what do you think they did when they made their way through the desert into neighboring lands to settle down in? They weren't the first people there, so what did they do? Sacked their towns, destroyed them, and took over.
Along with that, any man or boy in those villages able to lift a sword and fight back were killed on sight. Women who had been with a man(presumably married and thusly having had children) were killed. Virgins were taken back to be given as unwilling brides and suffered rapes. Women who were pregnant were killed and the unborn children in their wombs cut out and dashed to pieces against rocks.
It also teaches that women should submit without question to their husbands. That means no more voting if you're a lady, no more working outside the home, no more conversations with your husband. If your husband beats you, you deserve it for your disobedience. If your husband wants children and you are infertile, he can divorce you and then you're stoned because you have committed adultery by having been married.
Children who even once talk back to their parents(and don't you dare tell me you know any child who didn't do this, particularly during the terrible twos stage) can be taken to the town gates and stoned to death for disobedience.
Don't believe me? I figured not. Ok, let's try the following Bible verses.
Deuteronomy 22:20-21 - Considering the levels of premarital sex in this day and age, according to this particular passage, there should be a lot of women getting killed- excuse me, executed- for promiscuity.
Deuteronomy 13:13-19 - According to this passage, my entire hometown should be brutally obliterated as there are Muslims and Jews and, well probably lots of people who don't worship the Christian God. This passage mandates the entire wiping out of a town for ONE person who worships anyone but God.
Exodus 31:12-15 - I see a lot of gas station clerks, mall workers, restaurant owners being ordered killed on account of this passage as anyone who has ever worked on the Sabbath deserves to die.
Judges 21:10-24 - Here's an example of the Isralites pillaging, killing, and raping at Jabesh-gilead. In another passage, they did the same thing to the Midianites.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 - This passage states that a man who rapes a virgin woman must pay her father fifty pieces of silver in order to marry her. To hell with what the woman just went through, her rapist just BOUGHT her to play with as he chooses.
Deuteronomy 22:23-24 - Guess this passage means we can do away with rape crisis centers as it states that if a woman is raped and nobody hears her cry for help, she can be put to death for "asking for it" and not screaming loud enough to be heard.
Leviticus 25:44-46 - Apparently we were wrong to have civil rights according to this passage as it clearly mandates that Christians should buy and make slaves of the foreigners living among them. Ooh, wait, that means the Native Americans should be buying US as they were here first.
It's all in the Bible, look it up. I've read it myself and I found the same passages. They are not taken out of context, nor are they the ravings of some person who claims to have heard God. These words come directly from the mouth of God himself, according to the Bible.
I don't know about you, but I don't consider holy war, conquest, pillaging and sacking, rape, murder, and the like "good morals". Frankly, I wouldn't want ANY of that being taught to my children, either in school, or in a church that expects me to take it seriously.
The Bible will do NOTHING to correct a child's bad behavior or correct any of our social ills. It's a book, not a magical pill that makes our problems go away. To prevent things like violence and premarital sex, divorce, and teen pregnancy, we need parental involvement. We need parents who don't just make babies, but can care for them, love them, and make sure they have everything they need to grow up decent people.
The lack of parents who care what their kids are doing is the problem, not the lack of Biblical instruction.
