I've been living here in Vegas for four years and New Years is Awesome. I don't recomend the strip itself, but a club. It can get expensive, $100 and up to get in per person.

I went for New Years 1999-2000 (yeah, the year of the expected Y2K bug and of Armageddon, for all you conspiracy enthusiasts out there) and it was a blast!! The strip goes a little Mardi Gras, but even if you stay inside (which I did) anywhere you are is a party at midnight. Definitely go.

My wife and I were there on New Year's Eve about 20 years ago, and it was one of the best times of our lives until the clock struck midnight and we were stuck in a club shoulder to shoulder with so many people we could not move...I wonder what would have happened if a fire broke out! It was still lots of fun, though :-)

I was a dancer for seven years on the Strip, and I can say LV is very crazy anyway... BE careful... Try not to drive... I have had several friends that have incountered drunk drivers and have been paralyzed and lost their careers by the unending party scene. Good luck.. Be responsible... It is one day out of the year..

Lots of fun! I would reccomend getting a hotel room (soon as they sell out early) on the strip so once you're done partying you don't have to deal with the traffic or hassle of trying to get a cab. Very crowded, but lots of fireworks, very festive.

It's very expensive to book a hotel, on top of that, the traffic will be absolutely horrible. But, there's a lot of people.. and very festive.
