You do not need a teacher, I have had four different teachers throughout my musical career and none of them helped me progress much faster than I was already on my own.

I suggest soaking in all the theory you can, whether musicians like it or not, it is the most overlooked element in playing a musical instrument today, it seperates those who can play a musical instrument and those who just pretend.

Build up the strength in your pinky and ring fingers of your fretting hand to balance out you hand as soon as possible.

Always play with a metronome in almost everything you do, whether practicing a song or exercise.

If you really want to become a serious musician practice odd concepts as soon as you can, song modulation (switching the time signature or tempo in mid-song.

That is my main pet-peeve of teachers today, they go to slow, they do not judge how fast the musician wants to learn and his dedication. I've seen people who have played for 1-2 years better than those who have took lessons for 10 years.

haha I would try lessons... they usually have them at music stores and they're not that expensive and usually if you have a good teacher it can be fun too.
