If he is 2 1/2 months a lot of people will tell you no cereal...he could have allergies that you are unware of and if you give him the cereal he may be allergic. HOWEVER, if the reason you are wanting to give him cereal is the reason most mom's want to (to help him sleep through the night) then you can try a little at night at his last feeding but you need to be sure to use rice cereal. Mix it with his formula and put it in his bottle. Remember, don't make it too thick. Make it like condensed milk thick..you know just a little thicker than the formula like a watery milkshake. Put in in a bottle and then take the nipple and make the hole slightly bigger. Not too big because you don't want him to get it too fast.. You will have to experiment a little before you get it just right...Put that nipple to the side so you remember not to use it with his regular feedings.... Be sure to let him wash it down with plain formula. So feed him 1/2 of his feeding cereal and the other half formula. Now for the juices...DEFINATELY not right now. Be sure to check with his doctor, or the baby books but juice is one of the last things introduced if I am not mistaken. Try this cereal feeding at night and you will be SHOCKED when he sleeps longer at night. It is a welcome break. There will be people that disagree with me but it worked with all of my children and all of my friend's children. Just be careful not to over do it. Monitor him while he is feeding and just tweak it until you get it right. You will get there! Good luck!
As for the pedialyte, not unless he has diarreah or vommiting is some how lacking in electrolytes. It is not a juice it is for medical reasons...

Well lets see, I have three kids, with my first, I tried to follow all the "Rules", then his Nana, laughed at me and set me straight. So....with baby #1 cereal was added to milk at four months, then about a month later I started spoon feeding it little by little, juice is ok in moderation, usually just apple, and about 1/2 to 1 ounce you can mix it with the milk or water, only like once a day. they really don't need it, but it doesn't hurt, in fact if you are formula feeding, it will help with the gas and constipation. With baby #2 I started cereal at 3/1/2 to 4 months, 3 months in the bottle, same with baby #3 around the same time. As for the pedialyte, my #3 was hospitalized with infant pnemonia after she was born, just one week old, and that is what the hospital gave her, so Pedialyte is ok, but not a substitute for milk. Congrats and GL, BTW...you can always call your Pediatricians office for advice and/or pamplets.

Why would you give your 2.5 moth old pedialyte unless he is dehydrated?? That stuff tastes awful.... Cereal you should not start until he is about 3 months old unless you talk to the pediatrician and the baby does not seem satisfied with just formula or breast milk. Juice I would wait until about 6-7 months because they will like the taste of the sweet and refuse the milk. Good question mom !!! Hope this helps..

If your breast feeding and he has diarreha or is vomiting(the only reason why he'll need pedialyte) then he'll be ok (he'll get all the fluids from your milk) if he's on formula then yes to the pedilyte, I would give him the flavorless kind so he doesn't get a taste for the sweet stuff and refuse milk. I started my boys on infant ceral early (about 2 months) I only gave them about a tablespoon before bed time to help them sleep better. I know lots of people don't agree with solids before 6 months, but it worked for my babys. I would avoid the juice until atleast 6 months old and don't give it in a bottle(bottles should be for milk only) at 6 months he should be able to drink from a sippy cup(try one with a soft spout). Hope that all helps!

I would ask my pedi about the pedialyte. I gave it to my daughter because I was supposed to. You shouldn't give cereal until they are about 13 pounds which differs for each child. Juice I started at 6 months. I'm one of those moms who go by the pedis word exactly.

I say no on cereal or juice. Your son doesnt not have the capabillity of digesting these. If you check your research it is shown that children who are given these earlier than 4 months have a very increased chance of diabetes and obesity.
My son was not given cereal or juice until 6 months old. But that was because he was totally fine with breastmilk. If you child show that breastmilk or formula are just not cutting the apetite anymore, talk to your son's pedi. They will be able to advise you if it is just a growth spurt or if you need to start on cereal first.
Remember you are to introduce 1 new food every 5 days. This will give time for any allergic reactions to surface and stop the food. It is suggested you start off with rice cereal thinned out considerable with either breastmilk or formula.
Congrats!!!!

The AAP recommends one hundred% juice, and that your toddler devour no better than 4 to 6 oz an afternoon. even as commencing juice i'd water it down because in spite of the actual shown actuality that that's juice that's reliable and it is going to stringle your toddler so be constructive to attempt this and have a glance on the below information superhighway website.

Why are you giving him pedialyte? If he has dairrea you need to take him to the dr. That is pretty young to need that stuff. THe only thing a baby needs the first 6 months is breastmilk or formula.

I started early with my three, like by the fourth month. They can have watered down juice at any age. Pedialyte is to replace electrolytes, it is not a regular drink.

Babies need only formula or breast milk for the first 6 months of life. Of course, this is a guideline, but I've never heard of a doctor recommending any other food or drink prior to 4 months.

Why do you think your baby needs pedialyte?
