If you move your new spouse into your home you don't need to do anything. If you're buying a home together then should't both names be on it? I wouldn't buy a house with someone and not put my name on the deeds - husband or not!

If you own a home, you can put it in any name you like. The name on the deed means the house belongs to that person. However, unless you have a prenuptial agreement that says what belongs to you before marriage stays yours alone, once you are married ALL property (no matter whose name it is in) belongs to BOTH. If the person whose name is on the deed dies, the other spouse has to pay inheritance taxes if the will says it's then his. I own a house in my own name and one in joint names with my spouse. Both will be his if I die.

If you live in CA. Whatever is yours before the marriage -stays yours. The only way a new spouse can "get it" is you'd have to agree to put their name on the property title. If you want to buy a
new home - you'd have to each sign an agreement that the new home would be your sep. property. If no seperate property agreement then in CA it's 50/50 property.

Isn't what you bring into a marriage yours, and what you purchase after marriage belongs to both of you unless it is in one persons name that would be the person who is paying for it, but any improvements or changes might change this

When you marry, your house is still yours and does not become marital property, unless you will both borrow money on it or use as collateral in marital business. New house bought while married is marital property and if you divorce half of it will be yours half will be your spouse.

Just don't change the deed.

My husband's name is not on our deed.

If you buy a home together, don't you think it would be appropriate to have both your names on the home?
