IF substance contains both hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts:
Make the part that is soluble in polar solvents i.e the part having polarity in water and rest in some nonpolar solvent.

IFsubstance is purely ionic represent it as ions in water.

Hi. I would draw a cube (for table salt - sodium chloride) and show the corners eroding away first, then the bulk of the grain shrinking until there is no trace left of solid NaCl.
