Yes some women do get a weird taste such as metal when pregnant, I had it the 1st 3 months of my pregnancy I could not stand it, it really did taste like metal and nothing I ate or drank tasted good, only popcicles. There is also another reason that I am sure about it is a problem with the kidneys, such as tumor etc. I know this from my personal experience as well, had 2 tumors on kidney is also caused the metal taste. Now some people say iron deficency but I am not sure of that one, 1st if it were me I would get a at home pregnacy kit, if u r not pregnant see a dr. u might have a dr. say there is no relation with a metal taste and any kidney problem, I had 1 dr. who said all was fine with me and he never even heard of anyone getting a metal taste, acted like I was crazy! But I went to another dr. who listened did blood work and ct scan w/full contrast and mri, and now I am alright!! So take care and I hope this info helps u!

A metallic taste in the mouth is a fairly common problem — and usually not serious. Although you don't have actual taste buds that detect metals, the perception of the taste is described as "metallic."
A metallic taste can be due to many factors. But the most common causes of a metallic taste are:
Medications such as some antibiotics, prenatal vitamins and antidepressants, as well as drugs used to treat high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis and kidney stones
Oral problems, including oral infections such as gingivitis or periodontitis, tooth infections, and poor oral hygiene
Sometimes the cause of a metallic taste can't be determined. In many cases, the problem goes away on its own after several months or longer. Proper oral hygiene can help, including regularly brushing your teeth and brushing and scraping your tongue. Done properly, dental restorations — such as fillings and inlays — are rarely the cause a metallic taste.
It can also be a symptom of anxiety :)

Have you been to the dentist and gotten two conflicting metal fillings. We found out that this poor dental practice is rife in the UK.
Here in France that is actually illegal. What happens is you eat an acid or alkalie food or you have a chemical imbalance that can do it. A sure sign is also halitosis, or bad breath.

One book I read indicates that it might be due to candida albicans fungus (yeast). Pregnant women are more susceptable to yeast infections. Check out www.hufa.org - the yeast link - for more info. There are books noted in the library link, for further reading.
In the short term, go get some plain, unsweetened no fruit added yogurt. Make a watery mix and swoosh it around in your mouth, then swallow it (it is food). That may help with your main symptom.

simply "esophageal reflux" meaning when stomach contents regurgitate back into your esophagus and may come back up in your mouth....
it does happen in pregnancy but it occurs in many other conditions too like acid-peptic disease...
eat low-fat diet, take small meals and try some antacids
if it doesn't help, consult a doc
