Why doesn't he just give her every single penny of his fortune, reducing himself to a life of abject poverty, and go around singing, "All you need is love!"

She didn't earn half his money and property; he earned it all. She wasn't even there supporting him while he earned it because she didn't come into his life until much later on. The question is, why can't she stop whingeing and get a job and make her own money.

what did she do to deserve it? That's why marriage seems so stupid to me in this legal environment... it's just another giant lawsuit you open yourself to. I have to wonder how many poor guys out there can't even afford a roof over their heads because they've got an ex wife and a few estranged kids to support, with maybe a car accident lawsuit and some debt on top of it. It's sad, really.

The simple answer is this- she did NOT help him earn or manage any of his money at all.
If I was to participate in a project, and gain money, would it be right that someone who hadn't even been there then asks for a share?

why should he, he has not done anything wrong apart from fall in love with the wrong woman who lied to her husband. she should not get anything more than she needs to look after their child
maybe a house a car and a couple of million that's that, she is a liar and a hard face cow who should stop playing up to the cameras and take what little dignity she has left and disappear out of the spotlight

Because he's worked for it since 1959 - so why should she piggy back 47 years of hard graft - he should just pay her everything he earned since he married her to get her off his back. That's fair and I don't think he would miss it!
