There are a few ISP's that phone service is not required to have internet access. Covad is one.

But you do need an existing phone jack to go DSL, if ytou decide to go Cable then no telco jack is needed as it comes in over your cable lines.

You have a number of options.

The easiest are using your local cable company (if you have cable). Comcast (whom I despise...) offers a package that includes internet access as well as TV and I believe even phone.

Satellite - several companies that sell satellite TV also offer internet access - there are additional delay times so not a good option for fast internet gaming but otherwise I've heard very good things (would consider myself if I didn't have a building blocking the satellites...).

You can also discuss with local stores that specialize in computers - someone there may have a superior option to the above.
