i.e If the total production of Chairs and stools is 285,000. Chairs accounting for 120,000 and stools 165,000. How do I find out what percentage of chairs makes up final production? Maths was never my forte!

(120000/285000)*100
equals about 42%

Percentage is the amount in 100ths (per cent) that one item is of a total. In this case, divide the number of chairs by the total. This will give you a decimal fraction. Multiply it by 100 and you have percentage.

Percentage is taking the things out of 100 to make tosimple to understand the figures.
so take how much fraction of the you wanted of total and multiply by hundred which gives you the value out of hundred i.e percentage.

120,000 / 285,000 = .42105

.42105 X 100 = 42.1 %

0.4210 *100
42.1%
