Please, people don't give me so called "facts" from Wikipedia where anyone can change any word.
That is the worst site for research.

Oh it has been for a long time! It is the commercialism that says you have to buy gifts. It is really sad. I remeber a couple of years back there were some Aetheists who had complained about the nativity scene on the court house yard saying it was "offensive." I never thought that would happen in my own community!

People who don't believe in Christ or God I wonder where they believe Christmas originated from? Santa Clause? But most people don't even believe in him! My family donesn't exchange a lot of gifts, but we always read the story in the Bible about Jesus' birth. To me the greatest gift is Jesus and salvation from God. I think the greatest Christmas gift would be is to meet my Saviour!

God bless you!

Xmas is not x-ing out the christ part. Christ, back in the day, was often abbreviated as XP or XT so the X is a perfectly acceptable abbreviation. As for loosing sight of christmas, it depends on the family. For religious families, it is far more than a gift exchange. For those who are giving, it is a season to help others, but for those who are greedy, it is merely about the gifts.

True meaning of Christmas - The celebration of the birth of a god/human hybrid creature fathered by a make-believe god. I'll vote for the gift thing first.

Sadly, I think you're right. People nowadays don't care much for family. they care for their own gain. Sad because they end up gaining less.
