In my opinion, I think it is cruel because I have seen those from the higher caste disrespect those from the lower caste. Not only that, the treatment are also different because the higher caste gets better than the ones from the lower caste. This segregration also causes discrimination.

By western standards, the caste system seems cruel and alien, resulting in unnecessary suffering of those in the lower castes. However, it is a system that has been around for a very long time, and I get nervous when a country as young as America starts judging everyone else's culture. I suppose if the system gets too bad, the Indian people themselves will rise up and change it?

The Indian Government should abolish this. It is their religion that started this. It will be impossible to caste it out. These people believe in it and even if we think it wrong they are used to it.
