Why when Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on magazine covers?

Like in real life Katie is taller than Tom
but when they put them on a magazine or in a picture
they always put Tom like 3 or 4 inches above her

I guess this not really a question but just pointing out how stupid the media thinks we are
