The question cannot be answered for it is far too vague. Also even if one were to go into detail such as a first person shooter, real time strategy, turn based, ect, there would be a vast difference in opinion in each of the further simplified categories. Put simply, you will not get a good answer for the provided question.

Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast and Gamecube). Good luck finding it though, it is an elusive jewel (you should be able to get a copy on Bay though). Well worth tracking down-had it sold more, I think this game could have given games like Zelda and Goldeneye a run for their money (just not enough people have played it! Fools!)

Football management games because of the level of complexity. One good game will keep you going for years. Championship manager is good, but at the moment I would say Total Club Manager. I'm also addicted to a little game called Soccer cards. It's a strategy patience game based on football, I highly recommend it if you like football management sims and patience games.

Bloody good question! Personally...

Elite (on the Spectrum from way back when). I got piles playing that game. Twice.

Or Counter-Strike: Source on the PC. It p!sses me off no end but I keep going back. Damn, I hate that AWP.

But I always have time for the Prince Of Persia and Halo games on the consoles.
