Its not the easiest word but the hardest word for me is no ,when someone asks me to do something for them that i don`t want to do.i can say yes and begrudge doing it or make myself say no and then be full of guilt about how selfish i am. i can`t win on that one .

Not for the British - when someone is standing still, and somebody else accidentally bumps into them, the innocent as well as the careless one often says "Sorry!".
So, we British even apologise when we aren't at fault.

It depends on the depth of meaning you apply to it. It is easily slid off the tongue but to say it with truth and meaning in your heart is an entirely different thing.

For English people, they say "sorry" when they don't have to but never say "sorry" when they need to.
( I am not English but my husband is English - so I know )

Now "sorry" is close to meaningless.

I think for some people it is very difficult as it would mean admitting that they did something wrong.
