Im a preppy abercrombie loving 12 year old normal girl. But about a month ago I heard "West End Girls" by the Pet Shop Boys. Ever since then I'v been obsesed with that type of music, from like the 80's I think! i don't even know! I just love the beat! I have like 20 disco type songs on my ipod now! I HAVN'T TOLD ANYONE, NOT EVEN MY PARENTS I LIKE THAT TYP OF MUSIC. I'm afraid they would laugh at me. I like songs that other regular girls my age like too. Like songs by Fall Out boy, All Amarican Rejects, My Chimical Romance, The Fray, Green Day. But now I think I like discoish tecno music better than all that! IS THIS BAD? What should I do? Do you think I could make it a trend? HELP!!!

it may be a little different to like disco music when you're 12 years old but its what you like and i think you should play one of the songs for your friends. i mean they cant hate it unless they hear it. my friends are always getting me into new music. for example, last year i would NEVER listen to country music...ever! and one of my best friends made me listen to a country song. and i've loved it ever since. i even got a few of my other friends into some country stuff. there's nothing wrong with listening to a different type of music than others. it makes things more interesting.♥ good luck!

Go ahead and express yourself with whatever type of music you like. It is what makes you who you are.
I'm not a big fan of Disco music, but I have to admit that when some of the songs come on, I can hardly keep from dancing.
The 1970's was the big age of disco. It was a decade where people wore ridiculous clothes and did other things that you would never dream of telling your children about. But more than anything, it was about having fun and not worrying about what anyone thought of you.

Btw, I'm not sure Pet Shop Boys is considered Disco, but, again, go with what you like.

I liked disco when I was 12. Mind you, that was 30 odd years ago. Have you discovered Donna Summers and Bony M yet? What about the Bee Gees disco phase?

Listen to what you love and not what other people are, I had to deal with the same thing when I was your age...I loved heavy metal. But seriously it shouldn't matter to you what other people think about you, because if you let them get to you, you'll be living a lie and people will only like you because they think you like the same music they do and they'll never get to know the real you.
Oh and I don't like two parts in your question; normal girl and other regular girls.
Are you saying that girls who like heavy metal are not normal?

you don`t always have to do everything and like the same things as everyone just because it`s "cool"
by the way;;
80's music && disco music are completly different.
a helpful thing would be to search the songs
and see what era they`re actually from. =]

im the same age...i dont think its very good for a 12 year old to like disco(i meen its up to you wat kind of music you like)...try Panic! At The Disco....i like MCR,FOB,AAR....
