The distance between those two towns in California is approximately 70 miles.

There is one way to do it. Pay a non-commercial driver, i.e. a friend, neighbor, or relative to drive you there.

Even a car that only got 25 miles per gallon should be able to get to Riverside on $10 worth of gas.

This is the holiday season. College studens are always going from their college town to their home town, and back again, this time of year.

They are not only willing to give someone a ride who will help pay for gas - they are hopeful and enthusiastic over the prospect.

So if someone you know will not be able to provide the ride, check bulletin boards at the local college buildings.

If you want to come back too, then your ten dollars will only cover half the cost of gas. A college student might be happy with that, though. Since he only has to pay for half the cost of gas - instead of paying the whole cost himself.

And often, college students going home for the holidays will have several people in the car. They can travel light because they likely have some clothes at home and at school, and do not have to haul much luggage with them.

Only way I can think of is to hitch-hike! Otherwise have to take a bus or drive.
