I am planning to eventually move to Chicago from out in California and I am trying to see about how much money I will have to make monthly. The area doesn't really matter as long as it has access to the El.

I do not know where you are at in California, but I do not know anyone who will live ANYWHERE in the greater Chicago area.

My studio in the Gold Coast area is $1058 a month, including all utilities. Not a good place if you have a car though, and I get a discounted rate because I go to school near here. Most of the apartments that I know of are in the Miracle Mile/N Michigan Ave area. Studios are generally around 1100-1200 per month, plus utilities. Some times the places will cover so much of something and then you have to pay for the surplus. Or like for cable, you get a discounted, bulk rate.

And believe me, the area does matter. Access to the El or not.

You can find decent studios for around $500-700. If you want something close to the el, you probably want to find something on the north side of Chicago. On the south side and west sides, the el train runs along the expressway and there are very few apartments close by. On the northside, the trains run right through the neighborhoods... in fact, you could find yourself with an el train running right by your window, like in the movie The Blues Brothers. Sleep tight!

ok your danger-free aspects of the city is a touch incorrect. the best purchase of it has reliable and undesirable. North aspect has the perfect and worst ex. Michigan av. and the position cabrini eco-friendly replaced into and the recent housing. (in case you do not understand what cabrini eco-friendly it replaced into between the most deadly places contained in the global) alongside with henry horner and all the different housings, that are really blocks faraway from Michigan Av. West aspect has this undesirable popularity because it replaced into risky with the mafia in there and had lots of undesirable immigrants, yet most of the west aspect is danger-free and has greek, chinese, and italian neighbourhoods. etc... the position most of the folk contained in the neighbourhoods are of that first rate yet truthfully not absolutely everyone. i'd say that is your ideal wager, that's commonly danger-free and it has low-priced housing and it also has multimillion $ residences. (I stay on the west aspect in Little Italy) Then there is the south aspect it has the decrease income residences without being thoroughly supported like chicago housings. Out of each and each and every of the perimeters south would probable be the worst in spite of the actual shown actuality that it is not the worst area of Chicago in it... If that makes any experience to you? South aspect also has very magnificent places to stay. What you want looks very available and there are subway places everywhere and if for some tiny reason there are none through you hop on a trolly they are loose.

Studios can run upwards of 675 to 1100 a month depending on the neighborhood. I would check an apartment guide to see what fits your price range. Lakeview, Rogers Park, Ravenswood, Lincoln Park, and Edgewater all have a lot of studios since students rent the space while in school. Your best bet is to consult with a professional apartment finder since they can help find place that fit your budget.

Try the neighborhoods along Archer Ave.McKinnley Park and Bridgeport each have their own neighborhood newspapers and are close to the Orange Line, ten min. to downtown.Expect to pay 300-500$ These are the last reasonable areas left.
