Fox Like Animals

A fox is a member of the dog family, so all dogs, wolves, jackals, and dingos are related to foxes.
If you want an animal that looks like a fox, then a maned wolf looks a lot like one. The only difference is that the wolf has longer legs.

Canidae -- Dogs, Foxes, Wolves
Alopex lagopus -- Arctic fox
Canis familiaris -- Feral dog
Canis latrans -- Coyote
Canis lupus -- Gray wolf
Canis rufus -- Red wolf
Urocyon cinereoargenteus -- Common gray fox
Urocyon littoralis -- Island gray fox
Vulpes macrotis -- Kit fox
Vulpes velox -- Swift fox
Vulpes vulpes -- Red fox

These are some of the closest relatives of the fox, but you can't omit others such as the jackel and the wild dog of Africa which appear physically to resemble the fox more than of those cousins above.

A Jackal. Wolves and Jackals are not the same. Although both are dog like creatures, wolves were domesticated a few centuries ago. Scientist only managed to domesticate a jackal last year.

The only animal that I can think of is a cat. I have hunted both and killed both, regarded as feral in Australia. Both kill for pleasure, both play with the food before killing and both advertise their presence with scent. They are both audacious in their activities. Both tend to treat humans as a food source, moving into towns to raid rubbish bins. Both carry diseases. Both have no regard for human boundaries or animal boundaries. And worst of all, they breed like a plague from hell.
