I have a dinosaur PC that finally went the way of the 8 track. It contains my entire music library, not to mention volumes of pictures from my 'wonder years'. What's the quickest way possible to move them from old to new? Also, will going from win95 to win2000 make a difference?

You have several options for this..1.) Put them on a CD, or a DVD. Having Win95 on a computer though I doubt you have the tech. on your computer for this.
2.) Small USB Drive these range in price from $40-$200 depending on size of drive and capacity, but again you might not have USB on a computer from the 95 gen.
3.) Convert your old hard drive to an external for your new one. This is very cheap. Take out your drive put it in an external case which will allow you to access it much like #2. You have to put this together though. Any computer accessory store will have what you need.

you may raise both HDs on the recent device and move the partition from onecontinual to the different. you may want to preload with SATA drivers. Then boot up on the newcontinual. you should use some thing like Partition Magic to bypass the partition or a software CD from the HD mfgr. in case you want really the files (not classes) you may xfer them on a thumbcontinual. you may reinstall classes from the unique disk. you may also run the idecontinual on the SATA controller. I have 2 adapters which i have offered from Newegg. No problems with them in any respect.

I would use two network interface cards connected via a crossover cable and connect the two machines with NetBEUI (no configuration issues, NetBIOS name support) then bypass the 2000 security by sharing the 98 machine and connecting to the share from 2000 via a UNC. Everything else will just be drag and drop from 98 to a folder of your choice on 2000.

Save the data files to a DVD data disk if you can, then transfer them from your DVD drive to your documents on your new PC.
