A quiet room is best, no distractions just you and your thoughts. Writing means that sometimes your family has to take a back seat.

That's an interesting question and one that many budding writers would probably like an answer to....generally I would say at a desk if you are an established author, and a cafe/hole in the wall if you are not! Probably not the library for people these days - and not the park. It would be a place where you feel reasonably free and secure to explore the nether regions of your imagination, I think, and it may not even be a place but a point in time.

Depends on the person's character and the book's nature. if its a sad or romantical story, it'd be better if you write it while its raining outside, and you could sit near the window or somewhere you get a good view of the scene. That goes with me, rain reminds me of despair.
If the book has something to do with kids or humor, sitting under a nice, huge, shady tree on a sunny day would work wonders. If you're more of an adventurous person, you could try sitting on the branches of the tree.
Good luck with your book! Hope its a success.

It depends what you want to write about I think.

Yes you need a computer, but you might try to get close to the subject matter to take notes. For example, if you want to write about the quiet of the forest, spend some time in a forest by yourself.

Keep a notepad with you at all times so you can jot down ideas as they come to you.

Have fun..!!!

Wherever inspiration strikes you. J K Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter on notebooks when she was sitting in cafes with her baby (I think!)

If you want to write, get in the habit of keeping paper and pen with you wherever you go, so when you get that inspirational idea you can jot it down straightaway.

That's a very personal questions.
For me, water is my inspiration. When ever I need to think or write, I sit by natural water - a lake, the sea, a stream.

Personally, I always write best when I am typing at my computer, but do whatever works for you.

I don't know about you but I like to be by my computer, or else I take draft copies into the kitchen with me so I can read them properly and make alterations while I'm cooking.

Somewhere quiet, near a computer/laptop and maybe near some inspiration or a possible "scene"in your story
