If senator Barack Obama runs for President I would like to work for his campaign in my community. I love politics, follow them religiously, and someday would like to run for public office. I'd like to work on a major campaign to see if I can make a difference, and gain some experience. Can anyone tell me how to get started?

Go to his web site and sign up for his newsletter. If he decides to run, an email will go out to everyone on his mailing list, asking for help with the campaign. Even if Obama doesn't decide to run for president, your interest in politics and the way a campaign works are admirable pursuits, and you should seek out another candidate locally who shares your ethics, viewpoints, and goals, and volunteer to assist that person in whatever way possible. Everyone in politics starts somewhere, and, unless your family has an established foothold, it's likely you will have to start at the local level. It may sound like small potatoes compared to a national campaign, but, other than the absence of media coverage, the basics are the same, and it's as good a place as any to get your feet wet. Good luck.

btw, I like and respect Sen. Obama, and am certain that, even if he chooses not to run for president this time around, he will be a front runner in many other capacities. He has the sort of dignity that is sorely lacking elsewhere these days.

Same as above, great enthusiam, and civic responsibility. I agree, you need to research this guy Obama. He's not presidential material, I would put Dan Quayle ahead of him in brains. Also, he's a junior senator, and the party machine will not let him run for president. If he can survive reelection, he may continue to get reelected, and used by the party. They play him off as some kind of new superstar, with great oratory skill. I've heard him in interviews, and I'm not impressed. Just my opinion.

Well a good first step is to contact his office.

It depends on what you want to do, but a good education is your second step. Government agencies use all kinds of people with diffrent skills so go with what you are good at.

Third and i feel most important. Agree with him. If you agree with him it will make your job much easier.

Well getting involved is great. But remember that once you enter the political arena all bets are off. People will look you over like you never have been before and every little thing that you do will be blown out of proportion. So have fun.

While I love your spirit & all, I think your jumping the gun. 1) The hype on this guy is a bit much. 2) He has not done anything really. But the Sunday shows like him. That puts him in that same category has Ms. Clinton in my book. 3) the last election was 10 days ago, take a break. I am......

I did work on his campaign when he was elected. I was also in college at the time and my professor referred me there. Go to your local Democratic Party branch, wherever you are and tell them what you would like to do. They will connect you with the people you need to speak with. And go visit the DNC website, I've seen the link to sign up for campaign help.

First learn how much of a liberal he is. Then learn how horrible liberal ideas like cutting and running from Iraq, raising taxes on the wealthy, and welfare are bad for the country.

Then you will have learned that Democrats only want control over people. The conservative wing of the Republican party will welcome you.
