I'm doing a chemistry project and it involves showing how smell is relevant to chemistry so i need some experiments that use standard high school lab apparatus and materials. Please help soon! Please let all experiments be safe

Heat iron fillings with sulfur:

Fe + S --> FeS

Then add dilute solution of hydrochloric acid:

2HCl + FeS --> FeCl2 + H2S

H2S gas smells very bad!!

First come up with thhings that smell.
Natural gas has mercaptan in to make it smell so people will know that there is a leak.(sulfur compound)
H2S is sewer gas
SO2 is an acrid gas
some vegetables smell because they have sulfur compounds
In organic chemistry there is a class of ring compounds called aromatic hydrocarbons because they smell
Esters in organic chem all have smells and flavors are made from them.

Maybe the Esters is the best ides. They are made from mixing an alcohol and an organic acid. Since there are many alcohols and many organic acids here are many esters and many smells.
Check an organic text for a list.

put in a pyrax tube some iron fillings and sulfur powder. heat the mixture till you can see the iron starts to melt and then suddenly the sulfur glows.
leave the mixture to cool do not put an acid over it before colling.
after medium cooling put some concentrated H2SO4 or HCl,
shake it and smell. it is an easy experiment but the smell will be awful.
if you like to smell chlorine gas here is an experiment which is too easy:

bring a lot of table salt and boil it in a 200 ml beaker (try to desolve when heating the beaker as much salt as you can to get what is known as brine.)
add two drops of phenolphthalein (if you like)
bring an adapter adjust it to 12v output.
put the anode and the cathode in the brine solution
you will notice that the solution is getting pink due to the formation of sodium hydroxide and the smell of chlorine is in the atmosphere even you can see its yellow color.
this is a great experiment but be carful not to smell too much of the chlorine gas.

you be conscious of i've got no longer "been to church" on the grounds that i turn right into a baby, yet there's a different smell/reminiscence of myrrh from my adolescence churchgoings that I nonetheless like to this present day. I burn myrrh incense on occasion, and not only does it conceal up different odors, this is extremely relaxing. lol
