I read an article about some feminist who wants to get rid of all urinals because they are sexist. She says that if women can't pee standing up, then nobody should. I personally think that's ridiculous (I like the convience of just being able to just unzip the fly of my jeans to pee and standing rather than having to take them down and sit). What do you think (interested especially in what women think).

I apologize for being vague, earlier. I was actually not referring to the urinals shaped like woman's mouths (actually I am against those). This website has the information of interest:

As with everything, it helps to have the whole story before pontificating on a subject. There is more to this story than what you revealed in your question:

"Austrian removes 'sexist' urinals
MAZIN ELFEHAID
Associated Press

"VIENNA, Austria - An Austrian businessman announced Thursday that he would get rid of urinals shaped like a woman's mouth from a public toilet near Vienna's national opera, after facing pressure from politicians who demanded their removal.

"The urinals, which are located in the 'Opera Toilet,' a lavishly decorated public restroom, feature thick, lipsticked lips, a set of teeth and a bright red tongue.

"'We think that it's tasteless, misogynistic and offensive,' Marianne Lackner, media spokeswoman for the Vienna Department of Women's Affairs told The Associated Press.

"The department, headed by Social Democrat Sonja Wehsely, said it was appealing to the owner's good will, but was also exploring the possibility of legal action."

Reading this story, I actually of found the idea of the women's-mouth-shaped urinals kind of humorous, initially. But I can COMPLETELY understand how a lot of women, not only feminists, would find the concept offensive. Think about what it represents, for crying out loud. Can anyone deny that the symbolism of peeing in a woman's mouth is more than a little demeaning?

But most people tend to get way too bent out of shape about stupid things. A lawsuit? Criminal charges? Puh-leeze.

As for your personal preference to keep the urinal, of course you want to! Why would any guy not want it easy? Women want it easy, too. There's even a new device out that claims to allow women to be able to pee standing up, just like the boys do.

"Brisbane-based company WhizBiz today said "The Whiz" fits snugly against the body to enable women to "take a stand" like their male counterparts and avoid smelly public toilets and long queues."

Would prefer to see people spend their time and energy being outraged by truly outrageous things: AIDS in Africa; homelessness in the richest country in the world; teen pregnancy; the dire need for clean drinking water in every nation around the world...

For the record, I am 39, single, female, and have always considered myself a feminist. Unfortunately, being a feminist and being over-reactive are not mutually exclusive.

I think it's crazy and those women should be put in a loony bin. I'm a feminist and I detest those radical militant feminists that go around creating a bad image of sensible feminists. They're wackoks that shouldn't be allowed to talk. The real feminist is one that wants equal opportunity for women if they're in the workplace. If a woman chooses to stay at home, it does't mean she is anti-feminist. She just chose a different path in life and she is raising her children (a very important job). I don't think women are better than men or vice versa, I think we are all equally intelligent as we are dumb. I'm a woman and I think radical feminists are crazy. The link below shows the true, undiluted feminist belief.

Not a feminist idea - just a trivial one. There are lots of things
one gender can do that the other can't. There are more important things to get upset over than urinals. Besides, some women CAN use a urinal - (check out "The Full Monty" for details).

If men want urinals, go for it. By that same line of thinking, we shouldn't have 100 pound plates on the weight rack at the gym because most women can't lift them. And then should we have tampons and pads in stores? Men can't use them. Ridiculous. Just some piece of feminazi crap.

Like it matters, you'll never get guys to stop peeing standing up. They do it at the regular toilets as well. Heck, I did it on the wall outside my job yesterday (and I could have gotten fired for that one). If the possibility of being fired can't stop a guy, what else are you going to do? This is foolishness at its very best (or worst, depending on your angle).

women and men are different, this is a fact

this about as good as all the other feminist ideas then, i take this person was employed or paid to come up with this??

can i have her job?? does it pay well ;oP lol

political correctness is a by product of positive discrimination, you get people who are inexperienced or unrepresentative and do not have large amounts of 'life' experience - they are then able to pass legislation, its no wonder it goes a bit awry lol

That woman doesn't use a men's public bathroom, so why the heck should she care? She's a feminist extremist. And when you take any belief to an extreme, it starts to become absurd.

You've probably picked up an urban legend. Something a man made up to discredit feminists. All feminists want is to be treated like equals, not to restrict anyone else.

sorry I'm a guy, but personally I agree with you. It is retarded not to mention the fact that she shouldn't even be in a man's restroom. Next she'll want to share rest rooms so men and wemon can go in together and do things.

i do not learn about all that. What i recognize is, in case you purchased to understand me, you may want to by no potential hate me. after all; is it conceivable for a lady to hate a guy who loves all women people and feels negative on each and every occasion he sees a lady abused by anybody yet highly by a guy? How might want to you likely hate someone who might want to really shoot yet another guy on your protection if necessary? it would want to be the common sense Defying act of the Century!!!
