Where does the money come from that they give away on game shows?

I honestly do not know and want to know. And isn't it a waste if there are many more important things to spend money on?

The money comes from the Advertising. The more popluar a show the more they can chargre for advertising so they make money even though they give a lot away.

Game shows are becoming more popular with the networks because they are actually low cost even with the prize money.
They are cheap to produce and their are no actors to pay.


Note: The producers of the television shows do not charge for the tickets to be in the studio audience. The reason tickets are used is simply to help control the audience.

they get their money from the sponsers who advertise on the show, if a 30 second commercial on the Super Bowl costs 2 million even if you got 750,000 for a commercial on a hit TV game show with a very low production cost like Deal or No Deal and they have 7 minutes of commercials for a half hour show, do the math.........Cha- Ching

The game show is own by television corporations that get part of the money from sponsors, partly their own money, and I believe some charge people for tickets to watch the show being taped.

Game shows are funded like any other shows by advertising and by their parent network. There was one game show, "Win Ben Stein's Money", where the money actually belonged to the host, Ben Stein, so, he competed with contestants to keep his own money. My friend had an old co-worker that worked as accountant on the show and she verified that it was his money.

the commercials and ads that play in the middle of shows have to pay to be played. it actually does add to be quite a bit of money.
