I have a 1999 Mercury Sable that has sat in the driveway for about 2 1/2 months. It ran fine before with NO PROBLEMS at all. Now I go out to start it up and take it to get washed and it wouldn't turn over. After trying to jump it, I took the battery out and took it back to the store and found out it was dead. I bought a new one, replaced it and now it will turn over but it won't catch. I tried putting Heet in the tank and that didn't work. What should I do next?

Check you fuses. You may have blown one trying to start it with the weak battery. Look at the ones that say IGN or F/P Ignition, and Fuel pump, Or any that say fuel injectors.. If you don't find any blown and you've checked them with a test light, see if your getting spark or fuel. If it's not getting fuel try beating on the gas tank with a hammer while someone tries to start it. Sitting may have gotten some crap in the tank and the pump is stuck or bad. If it's stuck sometimes the vibration from the hammer will make it work again.
If it does start working don't rule out that it might go bad again. Get the fuel pressure checked...If My method worked just to make sure the pump is working correctly or needs to be changed

First of all, you probally shouldn't of let your car sit without starting it for that long... But nothing you can do now. Check your alternator... it charges your battery. Your battery may have been dead but you may have only solved half your problem...
