Well each phone is different. I am assuming this phone is a GSM with a sim card and you want it unlocked to either use with another service provider or to use over seas. What you will need to do is call the original service provider (like T-mobile or who ever yours is) and request the sim unlock code. In about 72 you will get it. Now I know some providors will not unlock the phone if you are moving to a nother provider so if they ask you may want to say to use out of the country with a local provider there. When you call you will need the EMI witch is another way of saying the serial number. You can find this underneith the battery. If you are having issues with the providor then call nokia they should be able to do get this. Now I am not saying this is the case but if the phone is stolen you do not want to do this. The EMI will be flagged and they will not unlock it and you may get charged for it.

Good luck and I hope this helps
