Yes, every parent will do that. Let us face the facts here and it is this. What was common sense when we were growing up is still common sense today. We want our kids to know how to be clean and hopefully polite in others company. We want them to be able to use their heads in any given situation and handle it well.
I do find in this day and age though we have to keep an extra vigil on raising kids though. There are so many more bad influences out there, the kids these days are facing more problems then we ever experienced so yes, it is wise to teach them what we learned from our parents who obviously knew what they were doing as we had a lot less violence and crime when I was a kid.

Yep funny as it is I often find the lessions taught to me as a child being a part of my everyday life now that I am an adult
