Hi everyone, I am at least 41 weeks pregnant, although something tells me it has been longer than that according to when I believe I conceived. Doc tells me that if nothing by Tuesday, she will induce. Lost my mucous plug yesterday (I think) but there is still leakage? I have been noticing reduced fetal movement in the last couple of days and am really worried. I had an appointment yesterday and they tell me everything is fine but something tells me it isnt. Who should I call, what should I do? I need some courage and ideas about what to do. PLEASE HELP!!! thanks!!

Usually the baby's movements do reduce before you go into labour. The head drops and the baby also has less room to move.
If they say everything is fine, I am sure it is.
You only have a couple of days to go if they are inducing you on Tuesday, so the best thing you can do is try to stay calm.
You are not really that overdue - up to two weeks overdue is fine, it can be very difficult to pinpoint exactly when conception occurred.
Yes, you can try walking a lot - they made my mother do that 51 years ago - LOL - some things in nature don't change. Just don't walk too far from home by yourself for you could start any time.

Ok your one week past due According to the Merck Medical Manual, the norm for human pregnancy is approximately 266 days from the date of fertilization. This is 38 weeks, or 9 lunar months. On the more familiar Gregorian calendar, it is a little less than nine months: about 8 months and 22.5 days. Counting from the beginning of the woman's last menstrual cycle, the norm is 40 weeks (the basis for Naegele's rule).
Though these are the averages, the actual length of pregnancy depends on various factors. For example, the first pregnancy tends to last longer than subsequent pregnancies. Fewer than 10% of births occur on the due date; 50% of births are within a week of the due date, and almost 90% within two weeks.[citation needed]
An accurate date of fertilization is important, because it is used in calculating the results of various prenatal tests (for example, in the triple test). A decision may be made to induce labour if a baby is perceived to be overdue. Due dates are only a rough estimate, and the process of accurately dating a pregnancy is complicated by the fact that not all women have 28 day menstrual cycles, or ovulate on the 14th day following their last menstrual period. Approximately 3.6% of all women deliver on the due date predicted by LMP, and 4.7% give birth on the day predicted by ultrasound.[citation needed

Try intercourse and long walks. If you are feeling movement at all it's a good sign, babies movement tends to decrease just before labor. I am 38 weeks and 7 days and already the baby's movement has decreased, if the doctor says everything is okay and you've shared all your concerns you should be all set. Good Luck, I hope your little one comes soon.

i wish i could help, i was 41 and a half weeks when my doc finally decided to induce my 9lb baby. my first pregnancy, i was knoccked up within a month of losing my virginity and the baby didn't want to come out. my appt. to be induced was at 10am, they started the induction at 2pm on a monday with cervadil, 12 hours later they removed it and started pitocin, it was probably about 6 hours later they gave me an epidural, then a few hours later they broke my water. my daughter was born at 8:44pm on that tuesday (this was 01/04/05) cesarean.
i'll pray you don't go through that!! good luck with everything!!
p.s. i tried the walking and the intercourse, neither worked for me.

my doctor will not allow me to go a week past my due date "my 1st two kids were very big forcep deliveries" doc says this one 8 pounds he's out" . tuesday is coming soon so hopefully you'll go on your own before then. If you feel something is wrong dose not matter you were just seen yesterday CALL again or go to the ER. You know your body better then any of us do. GOOD LUCK

I had a similar situation. She stopped moving as much because she was too crammed though although I do understand your concern. My ob stripped my membranes after the 40th week and then waited 3 days to see if I would progress on my own. On the 8th day after my due date I had dilated to 4 cm and he induced me that next morning. Be strong.

I went into labor three days after losing my plug. I walked until I ached and drank alot of raspberry leaf tea. Not raspberry zinger. I think that helped. When I felt like I was gonna drop, I laid down and my labor started. Maybe your baby isn't ready. The last thing they learn is how to suck. If you plan on BFing you want your child to take their time believe me!

Usually the baby does slow down with movements before labor. Hopefully a good sign, but you know if you dont feel right, then keep bugging the doctor. I did with my last baby . I knew something wasnt right and they kept ignoring me and Sure enough I went into labor at 34 weeks. It doesn hurt ot bother them.

Well the good news is you can't be pregnant forever so your baby will eventually make its way into the world... But for now I would maybe go for a walk and just try to relax and enjoy your time while you can...good luck!

Honey you are fine. That baby is gonna come when he is good and ready. Move around. Walk outside or walk around the yard or something like that. Don't go too far or do too much OK. Be patient and be ready for him when he does come. It's a mother's instinct to worry so...that's OK too. And you're welcome.
