The system specifications are the same the only difference is the applications that a or laptop can run would be dependant on the RAM size or the size of the processor and to see how fast it can run applications.

The RAM memory can ran applications quickly, and the flash memory might have the same dependant on the Os of the computer mind you but and the speed of the computer are your web connection if your trying to run different freeware programmes on it.

The major difference is that a notebook can only run small applications and so can a laptop at the same time, but its really a measure of what its on the pc itself and what the spec of it is, and what size of memory it has and the processor speed.

laptop is the old name for a notebook they stopped naming them laptops as people would use them on there laps for long periods of time causing them to over heat and to be damaged they had to replace lots of laptops because of this so they changed the name so it doesn't suggest that they are designed to be used on your lap

Notebooks are smaller than laptops

they are one and the same thing, in days gone by. laptops tended to be bigger, and notebooks smaller.
the smaller the laptop/notebook the harder it is to use your main computer, without a docking station.
if you want it for travel then the smaller and lighter the better.
