Can a person contact someone who is serving time in the jail? Considering he knows his name. Will the police give information of where he is located to visit him, or will they give information of the address so he can be reached via mail?

You can usually write a person in jail. Unless they are in some sort of protective custody they will get the letter. If they are in another jail the jail will either forward your letter or send it back to you. I would refrain from sending any picutres or cash.

Yes - is this a state prison? For instance, for Texas-log on toTexas Dept. of Criminal Justice, Inmate Locater -the full name is very helpful-they will email you back, in a day or so with TDCJ inmate #, Unit name, address, city state and zip
